Idli, Cilantro and Patio Sketching

I was invited to a lovely sketching lunch, where another sketcher and I were treated to a delicious Indian dish that was entirely new to me: idli with cilantro chutney. Also on the menu was a tree cutter in a cherry picker making a lot of noise. The main course was a planter of colorful flowers on the patio that I sketched with my primary triad. After drawing the pot and flowers, I was tempted to leave well enough alone, but I knew that attempting to imply the trees in the background would be a good challenge for me. All the tree-drawing classes I’ve been taking have made me braver.

Smiling idli with cilantro chutney...mmm!
