Just when you sigh wistfully at sakura petal flurries signaling
the end of their season, the bold Kwanzan cherries start struttin’ their
stuff! A few are in my ‘hood that I watch for each year – their bright pink
blossoms growing in big clusters offset by olivey-orangey leaves.
Walking back to my car after an appointment last Wednesday in lower Queen Anne, I spotted two Kwanzans in peak bloom. The ones in Maple Leaf are still mostly in buds, so these beauties are first to the party.
