Gray
is not my favorite color. Living under a gray sky so much of the year, I often
wonder why people willingly choose to drive a gray car or paint their house gray. (It’s urban camouflage, I suppose.) The only gray thing I willingly use
is my Stillman & Birn Nova sketchbook, which this particular morning
was made for.
After 30 years of life in Puget Sound region, I found gray comforting. Came to terms with it quickly, Then adding to that, in an art class, a dear professor had us practice creating as many 'temperatures' of gray as we could, so we got a 'taste' of grays: warm through cool, it was fascinating! did it with oils, but any medium could serve well to dish up a 'banquet' of grays! who knew??? it was fun, try it a little!
I know what you mean, at least in terms of art! I have been experimenting with mixing neutrals in my study of color temperature, and it is fascinating to find the subtle differences!
The grays are well captured on the gray paper...nice!!
