Look in Your Own Sketchbook

11/4/11 technical pen, watercolor
Chicago urban sketcher Andrew Banks has very interesting wisdom to share on the Urban Sketchers Chicago blog today. He encourages sketchers to look into our own sketchbooks – all the way to the beginning – for insight and ideas as well as the satisfaction of seeing how far we’ve come. I occasionally do this myself when I’m in a retrospective mood, and his post is a good reminder.

Here are two facing pages dated Nov. 4, 2011, and picked randomly from my first sketchbook – one of my first urban sketches (left) and possibly my first sketching visit to Zoka Coffee.

  1. It is fun to look way back at what we sketched and how we sketched. Thanks for sharing your early sketches.
