Although I don’t blog much about topics unrelated to
sketching, one exception I made in 2020 was to talk about how I planned to use a new Leuchtturm Some Lines a Day five-year diary. Shortly after writing that
post, I published a review of the product at the Well-Appointed Desk. A
little more than a year later, I wrote a follow-up post at the Desk
about how it was going (a bit spotty at times).
I’m now in my final year of using the diary, so I thought it was a good time to write one last follow-up on how it’s going. (If you’re interested, please go read about it at the Desk.) Despite my sometimes rocky relationship with Some Lines a Day, ultimately I’ve decided that it’s a rewarding way to keep a perpetual diary (and I think my mom would approve). It’s as close to anything I can think of that represents a longitudinal study, as it were, of my life.
Great idea! I’ve been looking for something like this. What pens (pen) would you recommend for this? My daughter turns 50 in April, might be a great gift for her.
ReplyDeleteMy original review at the Well-Appointed Desk shows all the pens I tested on this paper, which is OK with fountain pens, but not the greatest. I use gel and ballpoint pens with no problem. It would make a great gift for anyone interested in journal-keeping!

DeleteI went over to read your latest follow-up. You did a lot better than I would do. 5 years of journaling is a lot. I can understand missing a number of days. I have never been into journaling, except when I am traveling or away from home for an extended period of time. I have journals from all my trips to Venice, other Italian cities, French cities, especially Paris, and the symposiums and my mini trips after each of them. I like going back and rereading the entries and thinking about what I was doing then.
ReplyDeleteJournaling is a lifelong habit that has become rewarding over time! I guess I'm my mother's daughter. :-)
