Leaf Peeping

9/30/19 Wedgwood neighborhood

This is the time of year when I start my personal leaf-peeping tour around town to look for turning trees, especially ones I’ve sketched previously. The conditions haven’t been optimal this season, and I’ve noticed that the leaves on many trees are simply turning brown and falling off instead of going through stages of brilliant colors.

Fortunately, some maples are delivering as promised. I pass this one every time I run errands in the Wedgwood neighborhood, and during the past week, it has been as red as I’ve ever seen it. I finally pulled over to capture that color before it’s gone.
