I enjoy going to Maple Leaf Park for the Blue Angels’ annual
Seafair show, but not to watch the planes. Greg and I always enjoyed
doing it together: He went for the planes while I went to sketch the viewers.
Things we used to do together still bring me joy, but now they’re laced with sadness. That seems to be my definition of grief.

I think your definition of grief is spot on. Glad you have such a wonderful sketching community! I continue to see your Secondary palette in so many places, just saw a wildflower meadow with those exact colors, gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWow, it's cool that you are seeing the secondary triad palette in your environment! I don't see it much in summer, but I see it everywhere in the fall!
DeleteAfter my husband died, there were places that took me a very long time to be able to go back to or visit while others were easier and almost welcome in order to touch special memories. I decided not to rush it, but let my heart tell me when I was ready for those memories of the things we did, the places we went. To each his or her own when it comes to grief.
ReplyDeleteYes, absolutely. I have several places that I will have to wait a long time before I can visit again. But I hope to eventually, because I'm hoping they will offer a different level of healing.
DeleteThey will - at least in my experience. Hugs . . .
