9/1/17 Sky Valley Prairie Band at Phinney Farmers Market |
At our house, Labor Day weekend is always relaxing. While
everyone else is rushing around to squeeze the last drop out of summer before
school begins, we stay home or do things nearby and don’t attempt anything too
ambitious. Friday evening was a perfect start to it – still sunny and warm, but
not hot. We went out to the Phinney Farmers Market for dinner – savory French
toast sandwiches from a place called Toste!
(I know French toast has been a “thing” for a while now, but I didn’t know how
delicious it would be.) Munching our sandwiches, we tapped our toes to the
Zydeco music of Sky Valley Prairie Band – three women who all play multiple
instruments, including a washboard. I stopped tapping and eating long enough to
make a quick sketch.
Tina, lovely sketches! I came across a book called Paper Flower Tree by Jacqueline Ayer through a blog called Brain Pickings, that reminded me of your people sketches. I loved the simplicity of the drawings in that book, and the story too (childrens book).
ReplyDeleteSounds like a perfectly relaxing way to spend the day...good food, music, and sketching. Enjoy!
