Like Bad Liposuction

2/8/14 Platinum Carbon ink, watercolor, Fabriano Studio hot press 140 lb. paper
The sketch I did of the tree with a bad haircut has prompted me to do a series (any quantity of more than one constitutes a series) of sketches of trees that have been mutilated to accommodate power lines.

While bare trees still carry a certain grace as they curve around the criss-crossing lines, this evergreen near Green Lake looked particularly undignified with a huge chunk bitten out of its midsection. Like liposuction gone terribly wrong. (Along with the series of sketches will be a series of bad similes.)

  1. I missed this when I posted above. These trees do look so strange with chunks of them missing...fun to sketch though.
