Gloria’s Skirt

9/25/20 Gloria, 2-min. pose

Last Friday’s model at Gage’s life-drawing session was Gloria, whom I have enjoyed drawing many times, including her portrait during Gary Faigin’s workshop. For this live Zoom session, Gloria wore a long, flowing skirt, which offered the opportunity to observe the way fabric drapes on a figure. The tension lines where the fabric pulls is especially fun to capture because they imply the shape or movement of the body. Better than nudes, clothed models are good training for urban sketching.

    1. Not as much fun as the costumed model you have been drawing, I bet, but it was still fun!
