Sunrise

1/1/22 Maple Leaf neighborhood, sunrise

Although the early eastern sky was mostly overcast, the clouds had just enough cracks to let a few streaks of color through. It was Jan. 1. Despite balking at the cliché, I couldn’t resist sketching the sunrise, which is a rare sight in winter.

I knew I wouldn’t be able to finish before the color changed and disappeared, so I took my time with the drawing and then added the color last from memory.
