Zoo Lightning Sketches

6/4/13 Diamine Chocolate Brown ink, S & B sketchbook

When I visit the zoo alone or with other sketchers, I know I can take my time. Even then, I have to be fairly quick to keep up with most animals. But when I’m with people who aren’t sketching, I try to be quick about it, and it’s an interesting challenge to sketch as fast as I can. Sometimes speed enables me to capture gestures that have eluded me in the past, like the meerkat looking straight up.
