Uwajimaya Food Court

12/15/13 Diamine Eclipse ink, Canson XL 140 lb. paper
After the group split up at the train station, I walked the few blocks to Uwajimaya to pick up a few groceries. As I walked through the food court, I was compelled to stop and sketch this busy lunchtime scene. Just last week when I sketched at Cloud City, I was saying that I hardly ever have the opportunity to sketch that challenging pleat at the back of dress shirts because men in coffee shops are rarely seen wearing button-up shirts (at least without a sweater or jacket over it). Lo and behold, a man sat down at the table in front of me wearing. . . a dress shirt! (You can tell it doesn’t take much to excite me.)
