Children are elusive. Because
I’m trying to learn to sketch as quickly as possible to capture the
ever-changing urban scene, I like to visit playgrounds, where there is more
human movement and activity than just about anywhere else I can think of. I always
start out with my usual Copic Multiliner or Pitt Artist Pen, hoping to sketch
and paint a few kids in motion. Occasionally, I get lucky. Usually, I
give up and resort to gestural sketches with broad brush markers, which help
convey the activity without hope of capturing the details.
