Spotted in the ‘Hood

5/28/17 ink, water-soluble colored pencils

Sometimes I like going to a specific location like a city park or event to sketch. Other times I like walking in the ‘hood and sketching whatever I find. Lately I’ve been doing more of the latter.

  1. All of your sketches lately have such a vibrancy to them! I can't put my finger on what's different exactly. Not that any if your sketches are ever dull or not fun to look at. Please don't get misunderstand. Maybe it's because your more relaxed from having been on vacation?? Or the weather is brighter for you? Any way... I'm really enjoying them!! (Also, just came across a website of yours that I hadn't seen before where you teach mix media classes, and beading?!?! So much fun!! Do you still do that?)

    1. Thank you, Wendi! Maybe it did help to travel and get some sun! :-) Oh, yeah, I was a big beader/mixed media maker in my previous life! I got a lot of arm/shoulder repetitive injuries from it, though, so I'm much healthier and happier now! :-) I was still teaching up until about a year or so ago.

  3. Sometimes it is fun to just let yourself find the subject. They are usually hiding in plain sight! lol

    1. Hiding in plain sight is exactly it! It's all about being open to whatever one might come across rather than actively seeking.
