Mt. Rainier, Every Time

 

6/7/22 Mt. Rainier from Maple Leaf Park

I don’t know how many times* I’ve sketched Mt. Rainier, but every time I do, I learn more about Her Majesty’s proportions, contours or beautiful asymmetry. On this late morning at Maple Leaf Park, the light revealed contours I had not observed before. I never draw her exactly right, which makes me look forward to the next time.

(*I was curious, so I did a search of my scans (which are all tagged by subject). I have made 20 sketches of Mt. Rainier in the past decade, all but one from life.)
