Losses

On Friday during our morning walk through the neighborhood, we saw an elderly woman dragging her recycle bin from the curb to her house. On a slight slope, cane in one hand to steady herself, she was struggling. A year ago, I would not have hesitated to dash across the street and offer help. Someone else might not have hesitated even on Friday. But all I could do was watch with concern from across the street.

This is one of many losses from the pandemic. Not to mention the 2 million now dead worldwide.

  1. We advise people that they are a close contact if they have spent more than 15 minutes closer than 6 feet. Particularly indoors without a mask. I think it would be safe to help someone with their bin for two minutes, outside while masked. Then wash your hands carefully. This pandemic is brutal but so is the fear. I am so sad for all we have lost.

    1. Yes, you're right that it was probably relatively safe to have helped her. As I said, someone else would not have hesitated... but I did.

  2. It is so sad that we have to think twice about doing things that we would have done without thinking about it last year. I am enjoying your hand sketches with your tiny selfies!!
