It
wasn’t the best of fall color this year, but it wasn’t chopped liver, either. I
enjoyed the show while it lasted. Most leaves have either fallen off or are
hanging on by a thread. Not one to go out quietly, this hacked-up tree in the
Wedgwood neighborhood had paved the street with gold.
There's a hacked tree up the road from my office and it seems so profoundly wrong to have done such a thing to a beautiful part of nature.
ReplyDeleteI always sketch such trees with bittersweetness. Yet we have to co-exist, and I'd rather have a hacked tree than none.
