Marimba in the Park

8/31/19 Marimba band at Maple Leaf Park

Returning home after spending several days in the Twin Cities (more on that soon), we were both still a bit travel-weary. We decided to ease into Labor Day weekend with a walk to Maple Leaf Park. To our surprise and delight, a marimba band was performing. A large crowd of residents of Aegis Living Ravenna retirement community, which borders one side of the park, had pulled their camp chairs out to hear the lively music.

Although I had been feeling somewhat melancholy that summer was essentially over (as defined by Labor Day weekend), the music perked me right up. There’s no way you can listen to marimba music and feel anything but summer.
