Who
could resist a giant red popsicle? It’s a sculpture by Catherine Mayer that has been on my list ever since I saw the Seattle Sketcher’s sketch of it a while back. But as I approached
it at Fourth and Blanchard, I spotted a jackhammer poised right next to it (fortunately
for my eardrums, the jackhammer wasn’t working). A giant popsicle and heavy equipment in the same
composition – I was in heaven! And my timing was good, too: Just after I
finished sketching it, the jackhammer was hauled away.
