  1. So true. And, I hate to tell you, it doesn't get better or easier with time . . .

    1. Well, that's not exactly what I mean. Just that anyone who thinks memories will eventually hurt less with time, well, if you truly love a person, the memories will always bring that mix you mention, sometimes more joy than sadness, sometimes more sadness than joy. I've been surprised at how painful memories from over 25 years ago have become for me in the last half dozen years. I wasn't anticipating that.

    2. I had a feeling that would be true. I suppose (I hope) that we eventually learn how to live with that grief and embrace it as the new normal and not something to avoid. Maybe that's where sketching comes in for me: I experience it, feel it, then express it as a sketch -- which always makes me feel better afterwards.
